What it is
A soft clay formed from weathered volcanic ash. It is made mostly of montmorillonite, a clay mineral that swells as it takes up water.
What it does
As it takes up water it swells, which thickens the mixed paste and helps it spread. It also absorbs excess oil, so skin looks less shiny once the mask is rinsed off.
Why it’s clean
A mineral clay with a long record in cosmetics, named plainly on the list. Its swelling gives the mask its body; Shroom Therapy lists no other thickener.
