What it is
An extract of Nannochloropsis oculata, a microscopic, single-celled alga: the kind of plant-like plankton, phytoplankton, that drifts in the sea. The alga is naturally rich in antioxidant carotenoids and in omega-3 fatty acids such as EPA.
What it does
Its extract is a humectant and skin-conditioning ingredient: it helps hold moisture and keeps skin soft and in good condition. In one small study, a cream with it left skin more hydrated an hour later. In Sea Witch it is one of the three key ingredients.
