What it is
Sucrose is ordinary sugar. It is the first ingredient on Black Magic's list, so it makes up the largest share of the scrub.
What it does
The crystals polish away dull, rough-feeling skin as you massage them in, then start to dissolve in water, so the scrub softens as you work. In Black Magic, white sugar soaks up the honey, glycerin and charcoal and turns black.
Why it’s clean
A food ingredient that dissolves in water, so nothing solid is left to wash down the drain. Plastic microbeads, by contrast, are banned from rinse-off cosmetics in the US.
